DRAGON – a MESSENGER
The Dragon embodies the spirit of many things in our current reality, one of them is known as Rahu and Ketu, the Dragon’s head and tail – or, the north node of the moon and the south node of the moon, respectively. The nodes of the moon are intersection points where the ecliptic of the Earth’s orbit around the sun intersects the ecliptic orbit of the moon around the Earth – in astrology, these points are powerful with meaning and introspection that runs deep through study and application to an individual’s natal chart, as well as the collective influence. When the moon’s nodes align with the sun and the moon, we have eclipses. The nodes spend roughly eighteen months in a sign and they are currently on the Aries/Libra axis. The North node, in Aries, is the direction in which our soul is nudging/pushing/kicking/directing us to further our evolutionary soul growth. The south node, now in Libra, is the area in which we are comfortable with our conditionings and usually “blind” default patterns, repeated for many incarnations. The sign of Aries holding the Dragon’s Head represents the true, essential I AM – and searching for “who am I?” through the driving creative and intuitive nature of the Ram. Libra, holding the Dragon’s tail is ‘me’ in relation to others. This South Node represents the conditionings, habits, programs that we have adopted around who we ‘think’ we are according to ‘others’ and as reflected back to us in relationships of all kinds…it is comfortable, uncomfortable yet familiar, but is it all true? The influence of these points comes through the eclipse “portals” as opportunities for each of us and all of us together to see our shadow areas – we go into the darkness and these are then brought into the light…those subconscious aspects that we are “blind” to that we need to see, acknowledge that they do indeed exist, so that we may address them and respond accordingly in a new way and not the old default pattern way.
That is a lot of astrology but it is important to understand that the Dragon energy has entered our lives on a much deeper level this go around through the eclipses primarily because we are actually IN the year of the Wood Dragon – BIG ENERGY and influence…not to mention all of the other planetary players in this current stellar lineup.
Several years ago a favorite mentor of mine introduced the Dragon to me, saying that the Dragon energy had entered our reality with a more profound emphasis and invitation to each of us personally to call in this energy for a one-on-one personal encounter – IF we were/are ready. I was ready! I immediately knew this and after the beautiful, channeled transmission of this powerful invitation, I very loudly and clearly invited the Dragon to look me in the eyes…welcoming in my personal message. WOW, I kind of figured it would be a major ordeal but suffice it to say that the depth of this encounter has never left me and continues to this day to be a powerful and influential reminder of my commitment and challenges to be dealt with on my Journey here on Planet E, especially now during these pivotal and transformational times. One must come to their own assessments as to whether the dragon is a monster to be feared and avoided – or a powerful teacher here to help us find our way. It is all-inclusive when dealing with the Dragon.
I invited the Dragon for a personal rendezvous, she was staring into my eyes very closely and deeply connecting with me…I spoke my piece with her stating that I AM IN ALL THE WAY for the long haul, come what may. Please, I implored, show me what steps must be taken to stay true to my course.
Little did I realize how much work lay ahead of me! And yet, this path, trail, way that has opened before me has magnified what it means to commit to the evolution of your own Soul through the Journey of this incarnation – how much would be revealed to be shed or kept, ALL of the shadows, habits, programming that would need to be acknowledged and consciously released in full sincerity and commitment to staying on course. The shedding that would allow space for the opportunities of understanding, the depth of what was and is happening to us as humans and where we MIGHT go collectively – if enough of us step up to the task – for calling forth the foundational principles of a new world. MONUMENTAL!!! A huge part of my “job” is as a guide for individuals that have committed, helping others to see what they need to see – the subconscious brought into light so to release these shadows and get out of their own way, through many modalities and using the tools that I have collected and honed in my many incarnations…preparing for this time.
The Dragon can be intimidating because he/she/it will get in your face and be quite honest with you – you asked, right? Serious commitment required for survival! And here I offer another insight into the energy of the Dragon for any individual seeking…via my studies of Diamond Astrology.
From these teachings, DA, the Dragon is a metaphysical point, and where it is located in a person’s natal chart, sign and house, this indicates a very powerful exemplification (oh sigh, another big word – but it fits) of where we get in the way of ourselves. It has an exhaustive way of demanding that you achieve more perfection, it shows us our doubts and insecurities leading us to pursue always, the need to be better – and the gut gouger here is, to be better to whom? Are we seeking our own improvement for our Self or in the eyes of others? Key point here. “Oh, to be the person I think I should be (ahem) I need to do this, be that…” etc. etc. etc. Take more classes, get botox, hit the gym three times a day, hey hey ha ha, and so on. Where the call for self-improvement or “perfection” goes beyond the level of actually being good for you is a very fine line to discern, no doubt. Eccentric indulgence and incredible distortions of the true you show up here as the Dragon leads many down a trail of self-destruction instead of self-improvement. However it manifests for you, the Dragon keeps showing up – subtly or blatantly – until we have that conversation with her/him so that we might choose, finally, to identify the purpose behind the presence of this I AM we are discovering, uncovering, and so forth… as well as the shadow aspects to be recognized and perhaps released to be able to use it for our own soul growth.
Enter the eclipses this spring in the year of the Dragon. Seems to be a bit dragony, yes?
The year of the dragon offers incredible opportunities for evolutionary growth through challenges and blessings. This is emphasized with the planetary transits occurring right now that are in sync with the nodal axis, aka the Dragon’s head and tail. The eclipses are driving home certain points to each of us relative to their position in the sign of Aries/north node/evolutionary inspiration = Self-identity, from the inside; and the sign of Libra/south node/familiar and comfortable territory = who we are through how others see us, who others think we are, what/how we “should” be relative to what others think…the “me” through “the other”. It is time to see now where this thinking is getting in our way, stopping us in our tracks, preventing us from being our true authentic and sovereign selves. Time to see who you really are without all of the trappings and baggage (shadows/conditionings, etc) that are in our way! Collectively, to take our own roles responsibly and TRULY, to step into our own personal power without wondering and worrying about what others think! And pooling this collective authenticity to create and manifest a New World.
Tall order, eh? Well suffice it to say that Dragon Energy is no small item, in ALL WAYS. The Dragon can and will be see as the, seemingly, powerful and ruthless, aggressive and dominating “oppressor” of that true self – while challenging us to step up and see the gift that is offered, humbling us to a submission of truth as we choose to let go of the myths and who we are not. True alchemy.
Following are a couple of tidbits of what Dragon energy is borrowed from others.
From another student of my mentor:
JOACHIM: I refer to my True Self as the absolute, to the human as the relative, and the dragon is the mystery in-between. I also call it – or Althar calls himself – a “bridge in consciousness,” and that’s what he is. In a sense, the dragon is a remembrance of who you truly are, and he is the ultimate companion for the final steps when you go into full enlightenment.
The following is Hawaiian cultural and mythological (?) understanding:
“Dragons. Lizards. Deities. Whatever word used to invoke them, moʻo rank among Hawaiʻi’s most mysterious mythic creatures. They figure into the oldest Hawaiian stories and are a key to a deep, nearly forgotten magic.
Most moʻo of legend are female, shapeshifters capable of appearing as beautiful maidens or water dragons. They dwell in caves, pools, and fishponds and are fierce guardians of freshwater sources
The dragons of Hawaiian lore inhabit island waters — sometimes as protective deities, sometimes as shapeshifting threats. To those who understand the culture, these mo‘o are more than myth.”

Yes, a “deep nearly forgotten magic” that is more than a myth...The Dragon has made a grand entrance into our lives personally and collectively this year and I am sharing my respect and honor of her magic, power and mysteriously ominous presence. She is here now offering opportunities to those who invite what she offers in for consideration. This year she might not wait for an invitation…what will you do?
